That's an simplistic, inaccurate summary of a multi-faceted problem.
Temporary parking is an issue for a large number of people. Permanent
parking permits are desirable for a number of people as well. That you've
had a one-space apartment rented out for 27 years doesn't mean that others
don't have an issue with the current rules. And no one is *mandating*
on-street parking; it's an option.
