[Summit] Summit Digest, Vol 46, Issue 2

Elianna,

We finally had to dig up our front yard. Our sewer pipe to the street was
all mangled in the way it was put in (believe it was a DIY job and not well
done) and it eventually broke and was collecting stones. Have you had anyone
put a camera into the drainage pipe and put it through to the street to see
what is going on? That is what settled the problem for us. A lot of trouble
and a bit of money but it has solved the problem.

Good luck.

We used Dennis Diffley. Seemed very fair to us.

We are having a problem, suddenly our whole 3 apartment house is barely
draining at all. The basement is getting little floods.
The landlord has got a professional plumber working on it, who seems very
competent and tells us we may have a real problem. He is currently getting
information to locate a probable "house trap".

But the whole time we have lived here (12 1/2 years) the building has never
really drained right, neither our apartment or the basement sinks. Despite
repaeated snaking and draino, it burped and gurgled and went slow and so
collected more of life's debris to clog up soon again.

I have seen several other people on our block of Sixth (between Hope &
Lorimer) have to dig out their sewer lines. I know there are trees, but I
also wonder if the main is not working right, maybe? So since nothing
drains quickly, lots of stuff settles in out pipes, and gives us more
trouble.

 Any ideas? Experience?

Elianna

Hi, Elianna and Summitteers,

I recommend Diffley's. They are drain specialists. They helped our
neighbors and they helped us. (Neither of us had your precise problem,
though. But they saved us a $7,000 sewer pipe replacement.)

Drain specialists like Diffley's have miniature cameras as well as snakes.
They can find out where and what the blockage is.

We live in an older house that needs some electrical updates and also the
knob and tube wiring taken out and disposed of.
Can anyone recommend any good electricians?

Thanks,
Melissa
