[Summit] gas meter relocation project

I prefer to have my meters outside of the house as it is much safer. The
way the majority of the lots are in our neighborhood the beauty issue can
probably be dealt with via landscaping. There may be exceptions and I
believe in other neighborhoods where lots are smaller and have less
landscaping the gas company was pressured to be more flexible with the
location of the meters outside and I believe that pressure was successful.
I'm certain someone will chime in with details. For me I'd prefer to have
all those moving parts that can leak OUTSIDE my basement. I'd at least like
a vent loop to the surface before the pipes enter the house to vent any gas
that has leaked along the way and has traveled between the pipe and the
packed earth around it. I realize that the latter could be achieved without
putting the meter outside but right now the pipe goes straight in.
