[Summit] Re Recycling issues

I just took a tour of RI Resource Recovery Ct with the recycling coordinator and this very topic came up.  They have a special area where you can drop off this type of recycling.  I encourage you to go to their website and our call.  The woman I met with was Krystal Nasxiou.  She said that they try to make it as efficient as possible if you are dropping off paints or other household “hazards”.  Also, you can drop off your car batteries at RI Resource.Incidentally, I encourage taking the tour of RI Resource Recovery.  It’s very educational, and eye opening.  A good family trip too.Monica

Does anyone have an idea what I should pay for a spring yard cleanup.
My lot is 50' X 90'. A good part of it is my house.

My question is - what is in the "paint hardener"?
Sounds like it would involve some chemicals
- so what would those be?

Blessings,

Re: [Summit] How do I throw away paint cans?
Repurposing is good. But If you want to dispose them this is the way. Laytex paint can be through in your trash after you remove the lid and let it dry out. You can speed up this process by paying paint harder at any paint or hardware store: this will harden the paint. A mix of kitty litter and fast drying cement also works. Hardener is not cheap $4.00 for 2/3 of a gallon of paint. The oil based paint must be taken to the Eco depot at the Johnston land fill. Call waste management they will connect you to the eco depot. The Eco Depot ?will send to a bill of lading where you list all the hazardous ?waste on it. They give you a Saturday appointment time and you go to Johnston to the Eco Depot, at the land fill and they take all your hazardous waste out of your car without you leaving the driver seat.. You can not recycle the old paint cans. You taxes at work

I've got about a dozen half-filled, one-gallon cans of paints in my basement I'd like to get rid of. Anyone is welcomed to them, but I'm also looking for info on proper disposable if I can't give them away. I've heard that you can put cat litter in them, scoop out the dried up paint and throw away the cans with the recyclables. I've also heard that you can only go to the dump to do this. Any info?

Thanks

Other than "Affordable," what fence folks have other people liked?  It's a
complicated job because I'm a big gardener and preserving the plants, at
least somewhat is a priority.  But the fence is being held up by those
plants now.  Thanks.
