Our nice, simple older (1970's?) refrigerator seems to have died. [?]

We are looking for good sources of used fridges to check into.  It is bad
enough to pay to buy a fridge with all this un-necessary stuff, which clogs
up your freezer space too - but it makes these fridges atrocious
electricity hogs also!  The best energy star rated ones I saw-- used *7+
AMPS running!!!!*  That is a low burner on a stove on the highest setting!
Slurp!!

Our old fridge used 3 AMPs running. And didn't run that much either.  So
what, it needed defrosting once in a while.  My electric bill is already
bad enough....

On top of all that, this stuff complicates the keeping of our Sbbath laws.
I don't see any door-is-open switch to tape shut, which was the simple
solution to keep things from turning off & on before...

(Pheh- Old Foogey's Unite!  Somebody must want all this stuff, but I sure
don't! Grump, grump...)
