[Summit] Mechanic that's *not* a crook on in Rhode Island?

I know it's one of the most asked questions on here -- but answers vary
each time it's asked.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a mechanic? I have a Camry that
failed inspection because it has a hole in the cross rear member. I
brought it to SpeeDee on North Main St and they told me the part is hard
to acquire, but the labor would only be a couple hours.

I got the part with some effort, and I just brought it back to get an
estimate on labor. Now the story completely changed - the process is very
complicated, now it's 3-4 hours if nothing goes wrong, and they invented a
new problem with the exhaust (not on the inspection report; he insisted it
was until I handed him my copy of it).

So - I'm not going back there and I plan to file a complaint with the state.

But does anyone know of a mechanic that doesn't attempt to rip off
customers so clumsily? I'm even happy with being ripped off as long as
it's done with style and discretion.

thanks!

Shawn
