We had our roof reshingled by the Roof Doctor ­737-7881. They did a very
good job and their price was significantly lower than other quotes we¹ve
had. Other neighbors on Ninth had similar experiences.

You will have a dumpster in your driveway for a few days. I second Emlyn¹s
caution about noise and mess. Our guys were extremely careful to drape the
outside and tried to pick up every shingle and nail (using magnets), but I
still find them once in a while. There must be thousands of nails in a roof.
Also, they didn¹t tell us that a shower of shingle grit  would fall between
the roofing boards and into our attic ­ a major mess to clean up that could
have been contained by draping a tarp over everything.

I don¹t know if there¹s a legal limit to how many layers of shingles you can
have, but there is a physical limit. We¹ve had at least three layers on our
house for the 28 years we¹ve owned it and the weight was gradually pushing
the walls of the house apart.
