[Summit] Salvation Army

Yes I know it's surprising, but it's true - the Salvation Army
discriminates against LGBT people. They are an evangelical Christian
organization and it goes against their beliefs. I only recently found this
out myself. They post their stance on their
website<http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/www_usn_2.nsf/0/B6F3F4DF3150F5B585257434004C177D?Opendocument>,
where they quote scripture. They were also sued a few years ago
<http://www.aclu.org/religion-belief/nyclu-sues-salvation-army-religious-discrimination-against-employees-government-fund>for
forcing employees to identify their religious affiliation, and then
authorize their religious leaders to share private information to the
Salvation Army.

I have donated to them many times and we often shop there for what-not
around the house items. But it has been all over the news in the past few
months about how they discriminate against LGBT people. Even before this
came up in the Summit email list, I had already decided that we needed to
stop donating to them. If you just Google around you'll find tons of recent
news links. Here are a few:
