[Summit] New gas meters?

I've been getting automated calls from National Grid, wanting to set
up an appointment for a meter upgrade. Are they "upgrading" to those
"smart meters" that are always online, with possibly dodgy data
security? I don't know much about those, but I know just enough to
feel paranoid about it.

I don't know if that's what they're doing, and I don't know if I'm
right to be paranoid about them if they are. Can I ask my
better-informed neighbors to weigh in? I wasn't able to find any info
on the National Grid website, and I'd rather not schedule the
appointment before I know a little more about what they want to do.

Anyone?
