[Summit] Continuing Issues for SNA

Lately it seems a lot of what we call hot button issues have come up at
SNA. They concern how SNA makes decisions, composition of the board and
how the board represents the community. These positions are not always
objectively stated. In fact remarks are often personal.

On the one hand, an issue is planning for a fountain restoration and other
projects as well as derogatory comment about this person Jessie. On the
other hand, responding comments are often pretty contentious, sometime
vicious. Many times people have responded that in order to participate or
comment, the person has to come to meetings and make themselves personally
known. The implication is that if you don't come, you can't criticize.

The observation from here is that it is sometimes hard to interact when you
think you're doing the right thing and then you're criticized. Sometimes
this happens in neighborhood groups and other grass roots organizations,
including religious groups. The challenge is to rise above the parts of
the process that might otherwise drag you down.
