[Summit] 9th st park community garden

The next meeting of the folks working on creating a community garden at the
9th St park will be Thursday August 27 at 6:30 OM downstairs at the
Rochambeau Library.  If you are interested in helping create this garden,
you are welcome to attend.  If you are interested in helping create the
garden, have not attended any of the meetings so far, and can mnot attend
next thursday, please contact me to get on the garden email list.

Our two primary topics for the agenda are creating rules for governance of
the garden committee and getting ready for work days once the city puts
water into the park and builds a driveway.  Scheduling with the city remains
an adventure.  Fundraising is slowly moving up on the agenda as well as
resources in hand will not finish all the work needed.

The garden design was created by a city contractor a while back based on
feedback from the community.  The design for the garden and park includes
enhancing the playground, and everyone currently interested in the garden is
committed to enhancing the playground.  We all know the best place for a
garden is right next to a playground kids love.   Greg gerritt
