This looks interesting. Maybe we can get the garden built in the 9th St
park soon enough for a bed to be used for this.
We are starting to plan building the Summit neighborhood Garden and could
use some help. The city is supposed to be putting in the water line soon,
and then we need to build a fence and beds. We could especially use some
volunteers with skills, but everyone who wants to see a garden sprout and/or
wants to have a bed in the garden, this is the time to jump on board. Email
me. If there are enough people wanting to garden, we shall use a lottery
to pick gardeners.

Subject: Taterthon 2016!
Calling all teachers and parents of RI children in grades K-5!
Taterthon 2016 is here!
What is Taterthon? Taterthon is a project of the Scituate High School NEED
Club intended to help reduce fossil fuel use by encouraging more children to
get involved in growing food, specifically potatoes! When we buy food from
the grocery store, more fossil fuels are used than if we grow it ourselves
using organic practices.
How to participate? Go to http://www.taterthon.org/ and click on "How to
Participate." Parents and teachers can sign up to receive participation
kits. Kits include a potato, instructions, and a blank notebook. Teachers
can request classroom sets. Deadline to sign up is June 1. The sooner
requests are submitted, the sooner growing can begin. Prizes will be awarded
based on the quality of the notebooks which must be submitted to Scituate
High School NEED club by September 30. The school whose students have the
greatest participation will receive a prize. Visit the website to learn
more.
