Well, friends and neighbours,

All of those precocious young scholars who take enough commendable civic interest to follow our groups and are still guiltily trying to finish homework for tomorrow shall be well rewarded — From the Anchor Learning Academy yea unto the Mary C. Wheeler School, school has been closed for yet another day. For all of them, that means a welcome four-day weekend; for the even luckier ones who would be taking a Presidents’ Days vacation next week anyway, it should mean an even-more-welcome 11-day midwinter break.

[For parents and teachers who might lament the inevitable slip in memory and the longer June days needed to reach the magic 180-day minimum, I can only say, as far more mature readers, they should be able to absorb the blow more easily.]

This bulletin also includes the City’s latest announcement (about parking bans, trash pickup delays, etc.), and non-denominational news from both the Young Men’s Christian Association and the Jewish Community Center. At least someone around here still cares about Roger Williams and the first two clauses of the First Amendment [something, no doubt, that our new president has yet to reach to in his deeper studies of the Constitution. No doubt one of our readers would be glad to lend him their copy.]

Have a good Friday and a good weekend,

Dave
