[Summit] Plows Block Street Corners

I spent a lot of time clearing our 5th and Summit corner making a way for people to walk to and from the hospital. Just as I finished, my clearing was all ruined by a plow completely and deliberately. Moreover, the plow dumped a huge pile of wet snow on my cleared sidewalk. I was so mad! Yesterday, however, they were clearing snow and corners until 2:30 a.m. (!!!) and we all had a sleepless night.

Thank you, Linda. That's it.

That's easy to say, Greg. My neighbors on the corner are diligent about shoveling and sanding their sidewalk. But this past storm the plow pushed a HUGE mountain of snow on the corner, blocking their sidewalk. It's a lot to ask owners to try and cut through that, especially those of us who are getting older and have injuries that flare up. My neighbor ended up doing it, but spent hours out there chopping away at it. Seems like the plows can find another way to handle this.

It is exceedingly dangerous and when corners are blocked people in the street. It would be good if the folks on the corners cut through the piles. Greg

Yes, it bothers me a lot. Crossing 4th at Hope today, i saw it would be dangerous for me to use the “footholes” through the pile, so i walked down to the first driveway and crossed there. Eleanor on 6th

Piles so big it is hard for that property owner to curt through, even when the slop doesn't freeze solid?
Some of us are not so agile any more, and a fall from those 1, 2, even 3 foot high piles would be dangerous. I worry about falling in front of a car. A few years ago I happened to witness someone slip and go over backwards; I saw he head hit and she was unconscious briefly. She also was distraught at being hauled away in an ambulance.
I see the plows are clearing the intersection, but couldn't they dump the stuff 6 ft FROM the corner? Or could the city send out some small gizmo to clear a hole in those piles?
I have posted a few related pictures on the Facebook page.
