All are invited to the annual CHNA holiday party and fundraiser on Monday Dec 3 at 6pm at the beautiful Lippitt House Museum at 199 Hope Street!
We will have food and drink with an opportunity to view the historic mansion and meet some new neighbors.
The event is free but we are asking for donations to help support the work we do on issues important to College Hill and Thayer Street neighbors.
You can learn more and donate on our GoFundMe page at this link:

Hope to see you there!

| Prospect Park Terrace Restoration Update! |

| Granite Blocks have arrived for the final phase of the hardscape to restore this beautiful park! |
| Prospect Park Terrance continues on its path to restoration! New park benches have arrived, granite and cobble stone work around the monument is complete, sections of sidewalks have been replaced and cobble stones installation between the sidewalk and street have been completed.
The next phase includes replacing the park entry with new pathways and a granite sitting wall. The remarkable work to date has been made possible by several generous benefactors, city and private grants, as well as those early donors through our GoFundMe Campaign. WE THANK YOU!
While major construction work is in its final phase, we are still in need of funding to complete the work and address planning for future upkeep. There remain several "naming opportunities" for benches and other key projects. Please consider an end of year contribution to the Friends of Prospect Park through The Partnership for Providence Parks (P3), a 501(C)3 non-profit. For more information, please contact chna at chnaprovidence.org . |

| Fane Tower - Veto ability resides with Mayor Elorza
In spite of the significant opposition to this tower, the Providence city council voted twice in favor of the project. The developer is seeking spot zoning to allow for the 600 ft tower in an area limited to 100 ft. The City's Master Zoning plan represents years of work consulting neighborhood groups, trade unions and all those who spoke during the charrette process which was approved by the city council. Approving this spot zoning sets an extremely dangerous precedent for future development and creates an unfair disadvantage for those developers who have abided by the master plan in their development projects.
While many welcome the future tax dollars and job creation, Council Sam Zurier's November 18 Ward Letter notes "In preparation for that meeting, I researched the developer’s eligibility for tax relief. I learned that the developer will qualify for a 20-year tax stabilization agreement (“TSA”), which will save it $81 million in property taxes over that period. The TSA will be awarded by the I-195 Commission without input from the City Council. The developer estimated that the final project would yield between 62 and 85 jobs with an average salary of less than $35,000, hardly worth the $1 million per job that the $81 million tax credit would generate."
Wondering what you can do?
1 - Write a letter to the Mayor urging him to veto the Fane Tower. You can write your own letter or use a template proposed by the Providence Preservation Society, Download letter template. You can email your letter to mayor at providenceri.gov
