At the height of PVD Fest this coming weekend, streets from Empire to Dorrance, and from Westminster to Exchange, will be closed to all non-emergency motor vehicles.
So both traffic and buses will be diverted.

Dear Neighbor,
It’s finally that time of year again! We are excited to welcome the fifth edition of PVDFest, Providence’s signature arts festival, happening in Downtown Providence June 6-9. PVDFest has showcased 5,000 artists on our stages since 2015, and this past year welcomed 100,000 festival-goers into the heart of our city. This year, we’re welcoming new, exciting performances - including Grupo Niche and eVenti Verticali; the return of fan favorites - the PVDFest Food Village and PVDFest Parade; and a challenge to spread #1000ActsofKindness throughout the city this festival weekend.
Talented performers and entertainers from across the globe and from down the street will continue the tradition of transforming Downtown Providence into a party in the streets. Curated by FirstWorks, international salsa-sensation Grupo Niche will debut in Providence, following this year’s spectacle performance by eVenti Verticali. FirstWorks has also curated the all-female tap squad Syncopated Ladies, who are sure to impress festival-goers on Saturday night. To activate public spaces and engage festival-goers, public art installations by PNEUHAUS, AREA C Project, and Vinnie Ray will be displayed throughout the festival and summer months.
The PVDFest Food Village will be returning to Kennedy Plaza with over 50 vendors offering unique foods sure to satisfy every foodie’s appetite! The Food Village will be open all weekend, with a unique opportunity for Major League Eaters, pretzel enthusiasts, and festival goers to witness the first-ever Malted Barley World-Record Pretzel Eating Championship on Saturday. Festival goers will also have more than one opportunity to dance in the streets with multiple PVDFest parades popping up all throughout the footprint. Participants and spectators should keep an eye out for these processions Saturday afternoon and be prepared to jump in!
In the spirit of bringing communities together, this year’s festival challenges festival goers to engage in 1000 Acts of Kindness. Curated by the Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex (JSEC) Kindness Crew, kindness kiosks will be located across the footprint to inspire people to pay forward acts of kindness. One unique opportunity bringing community members together in an act of kindness is the first-ever Citywide Good Night Lights, happening Thursday night.
Building off of five years of delivering once-in-a -lifetime experiences, this year’s PVDFest offers something for participants from all walks of life. With so much to see, do, hear, eat, and experience, it’s evident that the world is waiting for you, here in the heart of Providence.
Make sure to use the hashtag #PVDFest to share your memories on social media.
