Campus Activity Status: Level 2.

Brown's COVID-19 Campus Activity Status provides members of the Brown community with a guide for complying with current health protocols. On Oct. 5, after successful compliance with Level 1 guidance this fall, the University announced a move to Campus Activity Status Level 2.

With just under 50% of Brown's full undergraduate population currently living on or off-campus in Providence -- and no more students expected until the spring term begins in January -- this move toward a limited amount of in-person academic activity is a testament to the collective commitment of students, staff and faculty to promote and sustain a safe and healthy campus and greater community.

The details of the range of activities that are permissible under Level 2 can be found on the Campus Activity Status webpage on Healthy.Brown.edu.

Climate Solutions Initiative focuses on overcoming barriers to confronting climate change

A new initiative at Brown will launch a series of efforts focused on overcoming climate inertia, with the ultimate goal of inspiring universities, cities, regions and international governing bodies to take action to halt and reverse the effects of climate change.

The Climate Solutions Initiative, a three-year undertaking managed by University leaders, the Office of the Provost, the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs and the Institute at Brown for Environment and Society, aims to curb climate inaction locally and globally through scholarship, learning and research-informed infrastructure changes. It will also establish a Climate Solutions Lab, housed at the Watson Institute, that will harness Brown’s faculty expertise on energy, trade and finance to create public-facing policy analyses and offer courses on climate policy and finance, training the next generation of climate action leaders.
