Dear neighbor –

I hope this email finds you in good health and spirits this holiday season. Keeping residents safe and healthy is one of my top priorities and that is why I am reaching out with new information about COVID-19 and the availability of COVID-19 vaccines in Providence.

Last week, Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, the Director of the RI Department of Health (RIDOH), communicated the importance of all Rhode Islanders getting booster shots as quickly as possible. As we are seeing cases rise and continued strain on our healthcare and hospital systems, we all have to do our part to keep one another safe. If you're unvaccinated or need your booster shot, I would highly encourage you to book an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine at our upcoming clinic as vaccines help prevent serious illness. 

To do our part, the City of Providence is hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic and members of our Mayor's Center for City Services team are actively booking first-come-first-serve appointments for December 30. If you need assistance signing up for a vaccination appointment, please dial 3-1-1 to speak with a Mayor's Center for City Services Representative who can walk you through the enrollment process in English or Spanish.

   - Vaccine administered: Moderna
   - Anyone 18+
   - According to the Rhode Department of Health, individuals 18 or older are eligible to receive a booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at least six months after completing their initial series of Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. Individuals 18 or older are also eligible to receive a booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at least two months after the date of their first Johnson & Johnson dose. Additional vaccine clinics in Providence can be found on vaccinateri.org. Testing also continues to be a crucial component to keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe from COVID-19. For information on testing and where to book an appointment, please visit the Rhode Island Department of Health COVID-19 Test Scheduling Portal.

In the meantime, please continue to wear masks while indoors, keep your distance, and wash your hands often. Together we can slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
