[Summit] High National Grid Gas Usage

I’m interested to know if other people on the List have been experiencing higher than before gas usage. Despite keeping my programmable thermostat on the same schedule as last year, my January bill saw an 84% increase in the number of therms used while my February bill increased by 125% therms usage. I can only explain this two ways: 1) this winter has been colder than those in recent years (I don’t have weather data to hand) but even in colder winters in the past 10 years, I don’t remember such heavy gas usage. 2) National Grid installed a new gas meter in May - I’m guessing that it is more accurate. But I also want to make sure that I don’t have an overactive/defective meter (I suspect not because the big increases have only occurred since November) and that others have seen similar spikes.

Many thanks,

Peter
