Ellen, I had exactly the same reaction at first. But then I looked up the
definition of "marauding" and saw that it can mean "going about in search
of things to steal **OR** people to attack." (Emphasis added) I don't think
it's too far-fetched to assume that a group of young people venturing off
the sidewalk and into someone's yard at 3:00 in the morning might have been
searching for things to steal. I certainly take your point about the
connotation that "marauding" has, but as long as we're doing some
nitpicking, I think Rod might have some dictionaries on his side.
