[Summit] Clean up your Dog Biz

Don't know if this will help but-- but we had a problem with our from yard
at one time. ICK

It turned out to be ONE dog, whose lazy owner was letting the dog out
before bed time, not so okay anyway, but apparently the owner didn't
realize the dog was doing more than number one, since nothing showed up in
THEIR yard.

First we fixed some holes in our landlord's hedge with green chicken wire
to keep the dog out of the yard, and then we sprinkled liberal amounts of
red pepper (cheap at CVS) on the grass along our sidewalk, when the piles
were now left *there*, once our yard was blocked off.

The pepper worked twice over-- it got a neighbor to ask me what I was
doing, and when I explained the pepper irritates dogs, he said it wasn't
nice to do that. I commented that I didn't appreciate having to clean up
after other peoples dogs *every day*, and explained what had been
happening. He said, hmmm, I wonder if it is my dog? Not long after, as we
spoke, his dog came running over unleashed, sniffing around to go, and
snorting at the pepper. The neighbor dragged him away by the collar, and
the problem ended completely.

But it could be more than one dog, because they get into this turf marking
thing, and once one leaves their smell, (even if the owner picks up the
pile) it becomes a competition.

I personally believe ALL dogs should be trained to go in the street, along
the curb, where rain will wash it away what is left after clean up, and if
other dogs use the same place, at least it won't kill plants and grasses.

PS Most responsible owners I know keep a few empty bags tied to their
dog's leash- no need to be without.
