Thank you for your continued support of the South Providence NeighborhoodAssociation (SPNA). We hope you’re enjoying the summer & will joinSPNA at our upcoming activities listed below for the month of July! As always, we welcome you all toinvite other neighbors to participate & become active in the events &decisions of our neighborhood.

COMMUNITY FORUM - PROVIDENCE PUBLIC SCHOOLSThe City of Providence & the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) are hosting various forums throughout our city to hold open conversations about the recent findings in the review of the Providence Public School District (PPSD). SPNA encourages you all to read this review, as well as attend any of the remaining forums. In particular, please join SPNA as we will attend the last scheduled forum to held in our neighbor this upcoming Saturday, July 13th, from 9:30am until 11:45am, at the South Providence Library located at 441 Prairie Avenue. From 9:30am to 10:30am the forum will be conducted in English, & from 10:45am to 11:45am the forum will be conducted in Spanish.

SPNA JULY MEETING - CENTER FOR DYNAMIC LEARNINGPlease join us at our next regular meeting on Tuesday, July 16th, from 6pm until 8pm, at the Community Preparatory School located at the intersection of Prairie Avenue & Somerset Street. At this meeting we will have members from the Center for Dynamic Learning (CDL) present information about their Summer Teen Apprenticeship Program (TAP), which runs from July 8th through August 16th this summer. The Summer TAP will focus on revitalizing the Southside, in which CDL has & will continue to identify homes in our neighborhood in need of repairs & the participating students will complete the repairs. The students in the Summer TAP will receive a stipend, & many of the students in TAP are residents of our neighborhood (CDL's office is based in SPNA's footprint). Those who attend this meeting will learn more about this revitalization initiative, including it potential & challenges, as well as learning more about how neighbors may best be involved. BARBARA JORDAN II - RFPRhode Island Housing has announced its Request for Proposals (RFP) for the future redevelopment of the Barbara Jordan II Housing Development in our neighborhood. Here's the link to the criteria for the RFP, and this same web page also includes the materials from Rhode Island Housing's Community Engagement process which ended with their report back meeting on March 11th, 2019. 

SPNA MEETING SCHEDULE 2019-2020SPNA will not hold a meeting for the month of August as usual & will reconvene in September to meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Listed below are the meeting dates from September, 2019 to July, 2020 to reserve in your calendars:
